Mutant sea creature responsible for closure of Caravan Aquatics

Mount Carmel swimmers getting snatched by a creature at the deep end of the school’s pool during practices has officially been deemed the cause of the pool being declared "temporarily closed." It also has appeared that the sea creature has made itself at home and is beginning to reside in the pipe, causing them to leak. The sea creature has been spotted by many on the swim team and still terrorizes many swimmers and students to this day.

This devastating event took place during the summer after the Caravan’s water polo season had closed up. Luckily, for the Caravan, the pool is expected to be safe and swimmable just before the start of this year's swim season. While school and law enforcement authorities could not confirm,  it appears that this creature was bred by students from local Mount Carmel biology classes.

The creature has been capitalizing on passing periods to blend in and run to take bathroom breaks in the first-floor bathroom. This sea creature is approximately 5'9", has a human-like figure, and is completely covered head to toe in turquoise quarter-like scales. This sea creature also appears to be rocking a pair of "tropical animals" swim trunks with a light blue background, hinting at some sort of fashion behind these attacks.

"It almost ate me!" said Mr. McGuire, moments after capturing this historic image of the beast.

"It's really upsetting to see a crucial swimmer like Kaleb McCluer being eaten by the creature," said MC swimmer AJ Stanislawski, a junior. McCluer recently stepped out of the goal last spring and started playing on the field, and he was key in the Caravan’s offense last water polo season. Sadly, It is not expected for McCluer to be back for this year's upcoming swim season due to the fact that he has not yet returned from the creature's custody.

The Caravan has a history of pool shutdowns that have cut into previous years’ swimming and water polo seasons. Caravan Aquatics sees many hurdles that they need to overcome in order to truly prosper as a team. Although a situation like this may be demotivating to the team as a whole, it has been an excellent opportunity for many to take some time and live life outside of the water for once.

Swimmer Andrew Stanislawski adds, "Although I enjoy my time in the pool, because of the shutdown, I was able to spend my time outside in beautiful Jackson Park!" Stanislawski, a recent addition to Varsity Golf, played for the Caravan this fall. Unlike Stanislawski, many other swimmers for the Caravan have resorted to swimming for other clubs. This is very good news for Caravan Aquatics, as they are expected to have many more dominant seasons upcoming than in previous years.

Many ideas have been used to try and stop this creature from harming members of the Caravan in the future, but nothing has been working. Much work has appeared to be happening in the pool area, but sightings of this creature beg to differ. Swimmers have come to the conclusion that this creature is attracted to anything related to water. They came to this when a janitor suspected the creature was using water colors in one of Mount Carmel’s many art classes after school.

Mr. Perez was the janitor who spotted the creature after hours and said this when we interviewed him: "I was just minding my business doing what I do, and when I went into the classroom, a lot of art supplies were out, and I noticed a slimy trail going from the classroom all the way to the pool". Investigation on this topic led us to the conclusion that the creature was doing watercolors that afternoon. At the end of this article, the creature was still on the loose in the school.
