We provide a double-blind peer review process under which all submissions made to the ‘The Jurist’ will be initially assessed by the editorial team taking into account the requirements for the publication. The papers deemed suitable would then be sent to a minimum of two independent expert reviewers to assess the scientific quality of the paper. These reviewers will provide their analysis on the basis of which the Editor will make the final decision regarding acceptance or rejection of articles. The Editor’s decision in this regard is final.
The Jurist uses double-blind review, which means the identities of the authors are concealed from the editors, reviewers, and anyone handling the draft of your manuscript in the selection process. This is to ensure impartiality and adherence to the highest ethical considerations. To facilitate this, please include the following: Blinded manuscript (no author details): The main body of the paper (including the references, figures, tables and any acknowledgements) should not include any identifying information, such as the authors’ names or affiliations.
Upon perusal of the original submission, the ones with publishing potential would be referred to the author to include any suggestions recommended by the editors in the manuscript. Upon implementation of the revision you must provide us with an editable file of the entire article.
Some general guidelines to be applicable in the same are:
1. To avoid unnecessary errors, you are strongly advised to use the ‘spell-check’ and ‘grammar-check’ functions of your word processor.
2. Ensure a proper Introduction to the research: State the objectives of the work and provide an adequate background, avoiding a detailed literature survey or a summary of the results.
3. Proper use and referencing of material and methods: Ensure that you provide sufficient details to allow the work to be published by an independent researcher. Methods that are already published should be summarised, and indicated by a reference. If quoting directly from a previously published method, use quotation marks and also cite the source. Any modifications to existing methods should also be described.
4. Result: Results should be clear and concise. These are a major determinant in the quality and viability of research and form a major consideration in the review process.
5. Discussion: This should explore the significance of the results of the work, not repeat them. Discussion means the process explanation on how the research was achieved. A combined Results and Discussion section is often appropriate. Avoid extensive citations and discussion of published literature.
6. Conclusions: The main conclusions of the research conducted may be presented in a short Conclusions section, which may stand alone or form a subsection of a Discussion or Results and Discussion section. These three forms the major determining criteria in the review process.
The Jurist accepts submissions in areas emerging from the inevitable interference of subjects pertaining to various disciplines. The Jurist to ensure this follows a stringent and rigorous double-blind peer review process in the selection of the submissions that make it to the issue of the publications. While we encourage submissions both original in their approach as well as advancing upon existing research in a particular field, it is of paramount importance that ethical considerations take the highest stand. Submissions in this regard should be strictly the work of the author/s and should not have been previously published or under review at any other forum.
In regard to the submitted Manuscript, kindly ensure that the following are present
1. Keywords
2. Any figures include relevant captions
3. Any tables used include titles, description, and footnotes
4. Supplemental files where applicable in case of primary research.
5. Manuscript has been ‘spell checked’ and ‘grammar checked’
6. All references mentioned in the Reference List are cited in the manuscript
The author along with the co-authors is to be mentioned while submission of the manuscript. Any addition, deletion or rearrangement of author names in the authorship list should be made only before the manuscript has been accepted for publication.
To request such change, the Publishing Editor must receive the request from the author containing the following:
1. The reason for the change in author list and;
2. Written confirmation from all authors that they are in agreement with the addition, removal or rearrangement.
In the case of addition or removal of authors, this includes confirmation from the author being added or removed. Only in exceptional circumstances will the Editor consider the addition, deletion or rearrangement of authors after the manuscript has been accepted. While the Editor considers the request, publication of the manuscript will be suspended.
The Jurist is part of our various associated publications. In consideration to that if the Editor feels that the submission in question is more suitable in one of our other publications then you may be asked to consider transferring the submission to one of those. It is imperative to note here that this would be a mere consideration and that it would not be binding upon the author. However, if you agree, your article will be transferred automatically on your behalf with no need to reformat. Important: Your article will be reviewed again as per the guidelines of the recommended publication.
The number of issues published by THE JURIST PUBLICATIONS is 6 issues per year
Upon acceptance of an article, authors will be asked to complete a Copyright Agreement along with any recommended changes to the submission. An e-mail will be sent to the corresponding author confirming final receipt of the manuscript together with the Copyright form.
Upon acceptance of an article, authors will be asked to complete an ‘Exclusive License Agreement’ for permitted third party reuse of open access articles. Open Access ensures wider reach of your research and that it can be used and reused by other researchers thus benefiting the purpose of the research.
The views expressed in the articles, comments and all other contributions in any other form to the Publications of The Jurist are those of the individual authors and not necessarily of the Board of Editors. The contributors by submitting any contribution towards Publication agree to indemnify The Jurist from and against all claims, suits, and damages based on any claim of copyright infringement or plagiarism or unauthorised use. The author(s) of each article are solely responsible for the content presented in their contributions. The Jurist does not hold any responsibility/liability towards any claim whatsoever, pertaining to the conclusions, methodology, recommendations or any other factual representation appearing in the manuscripts. The Journal shall not assume any responsibility for the accuracy, completeness or usefulness of any information provided in it.
