The school have moved to ban chips from the school menu. Whilst most other schools serve chips and wedges - why do we have to suffer?
It think as long as they are served in moderation and not every day they are not a problem. Surely the kitchen staff are capable of serving small portions to the students? None of the students we spoke to have chips when they are at home and so having them at school is a treat.
The school is now moving towards meals such as Lasagne, Turkey Steaks, Beef Pie, Veg Pasta and Fishermans pie. Although tasty, these meals offer less in terms of a treat and dont satisfy like a chip can. What can beat a chip butty with tommy sauce? I dont think the teachers could even argue with that. Year 8 and 9 was involved in a rather sticky situation during their farm field trip. Ten students got stuck in the mud in the pig pen during a tour of the farm. The local farmer was called on to bring in his tractor to pull the students out of the muck. Afterwards their form teacher described the scene.
"It was all very funny - all the students had their wellies stuck firmly in the mud. The tractor cam in and pulled us all out and put us on solid ground. I'm afraid all the wellies are still in the pig pen, stuck firm in the mud. I only hope that the pigs dont mind and they can use them as scratching posts or something..."
