Challenge 1

How can we develop competencies for global learning?

The competencies needed in today's inclusive and globalized world are ever changing. We must be able to connect and communicate with people from far and wide. This does not only apply to facilitators but also to students. Especially since remote learning boosted the chance for cross-border and cross-cultural education. Not only do students move from one country to another to pursue education but also sometimes stay in another country and follow their classes online. So, how can one maintain the professional and the social connection with someone living in a different part of the world? How can equality and inclusion for both students in the host country and students participating remotely from abroad be ensured? Which actions can be taken regarding social isolations because of cultural differences, language, or other factors? What are skills and attitudes needed in today's and future international education? How can these be defined in new and actionable competencies? And how does one develop these competencies over time? What challenges do local students face compared to international students?
