Similar to talent points, a player's skill proficiency level is also divided into the 5 categories of melee, ranged, gadgets, force, and armor. A player must level up each of these categories independently by spending the appropriate credits and resources to do so. Every weapon and ability in the game has a skill proficiency requirement that must be met before it can be equipped and used, with the current minimum being level I, Novice, and the current maximum being level VII, Expert.
Players are unable to manage their skill proficiency levels from the main menu of Forcebound. Skill proficiency levels must be altered through the player menu after a player has spawned. The player menu can be accessed by selecting the middle blue icon presented in the image to left or by pressing keybind "B". Once the player menu is open, nine options are presented. The skill proficiency menu is accessed through the bottom right icon labeled "Upgrade".
Once the skill proficiency tab of the player menu is opened, it will appear as presented in the image to the left. A player will then be able to click between the five categories to see the resource and credit requirements to reach the next level for each category. Each category utilizes its own unique resource requirements at each level, but the credit requirements for each respective level increase remain the same across all categories. As an example, the melee category is selected in the image, and it can be seen that the requirements to progress from Proficient (level V) to the next level is 1500 credits, 6 Agrinium (the resource to the left), and 2 Nexu Fur (the resource to the right).
Unlike talent points, skill proficiency levels do not interfere with each other. A player can level up all five categories as high as they wish, however, there are currently no weapons or abilities that require a skill proficiency over Expert(Level VII).
When hovering your cursor over a weapon or ability in the loadout menu, the requirements to use that weapon/ability will appear. The required skill proficiency to use the selected weapon will appear at the bottom of the list of requirements, highlighted in GREEN if you are the appropriate proficiency level on the category of weapon/tool, or RED if you are not.
