Spring Master Class-2015

The TFDE Spring Event and Social was so very inspiring!! 20 students from different from around the city came to take class with 2 of our College Ambassadors. Kara Ko (Cedar Park HS/Arizona State University) opened class with a contemporary jazz class that left the students breathless. Juwan J. Alston (Cedar Ridge HS/University of North Carolina School of the Arts) followed with a contemporary ballet class that left the students drenched in sweat. Member were presented with their member certificates and patches and then we headed over for Applebees to get our energy back and enjoy a night with old and new friends. I loved seeing students from different schools, grade levels, class levels come together and talk dance with myself and the ambassadors. Inspired by their passion and camaraderie!

Special thank you Angel, Shelby, and Marla of Westwood for hosting the location and Denise Cochran for helping prepare the social site while we finished class.

We had our first College Ambassadors this year. Kara, Juwan, and Lauren MacNary (Westwood HS/Texas State University) have been amazing role models for our members. Kara and Juwan are phenomenal teachers and choreographers for our event and Lauren was traveling in Europe with the Strutters. I hope you have enjoyed following their blog.

We also had out 1st student officers, April Rodriguez (Cedar Ridge HS), Oddalys Salcido (Stony Point HS), Hannah Neville (McNeil HS). They were a tremendous help in running all of our social media as well as helping plan and run the events.

We are getting ready to send out our 2nd newsletter with special member benefits, deliver our 2nd round of letter jacket patches, and post 2 more months of blogs. We continued to have TDEA support and spoke at the annual convention and have been invited to other events in the state to promote TFDE. We could not be more excited to the year that TFDE has had! News of new chapters starting in Texas has been in the works. Keep an eye out for the announcement!!

We are so very excited to announce that this Spring, TFDE will be hosting master classes in contemporary studies: modern, jazz, and ballet influences. Following the event, the College Ambassadors will celebrate with us at Applebees. Come get to know your fellow TFDE members, celebrate another successful year, as well as get advice and hear stories from our College Ambassadors that are both college dance majors. You can eat dinner, apps or dessert! We will have tables reserved but will simply order from the menu. (Bring money if attending the Social event)
