Currently a rising 2L, Thaisa began her 1L experience at Texas Law after completing the first year of her dual MSSW/JD degree at UT's Steve Hicks School of Social Work. Part of her social work experience included co-facilitating a self-care group for students in the law school's Domestic Violence clinic. While other graduate programs have their own stresses and hardships, she found the competitive environment of law school to present a unique barrier to a healthy self-care practice. In particular, she found peer-to-peer discussions of mental health and self-care to be rare. Seeking assistance was something many students felt they had to keep secret or else treat as a "confession" when sharing with close friends. In creating this website, Thaisa seeks to promote healthy, open dialogue around mental health and self-care while also providing a private way for students to find resources on their own.
