Succubus

During the early months of my webcomic series, I over worked myself with no breaks leading to a devastating burn-out in which I could not illustrate for days. Afterwards, I needed a piece to rejuvenate me, but not my webcomic. Succubus is the piece I created to get myself out of a slump whilst also challenging myself.

Succubus is a simple piece, depicting a monstruous woman is a seductive pose holding a knife. Made with only hatching and cross-hatching, Succubus was made on a canvas with a greater length than what I would typically work on, in an attempt to create a piece different from my others. Similarly, the piece is white on black, opposite to my usual black on white. This created an interesting look as I had to create the light rather than the normal shadow. While Succubus was a challenging piece, it was fun and I enjoyed every step of the way. Thanks to this piece, I have not had another burn-out since and take breaks often to keep my body and my mind clear and ready for any and all upcoming tasks.
