Learning can take you anywhere

School exchanges are something common nowadays, what is more, even some of us had the opportunity to take part in them. They are really beneficial as language students get to experience real communicative situations outside the classroom. After taking part of a telecollaborative programme we thought both kinds of programme can be very similar as they relate two groups who belong to different backgrounds and, in some cases, different countries. On top of that we thought that students would be much more engaged if the somehow depended on each other.

Besides the cultural richness they can acquire from each other, the fact that their mother tongues are different and are the target language from the other group is really convenient. Students will become “teachers” to the other group and will teach them both language and cultural contents. In light of the above, our exchange program will evolve around the linguistic competence and cultural awareness through the planning of a trip. Given the fact that the students will not have opportunities to work face-to-face, we will include many technological tools with which they can produce and share their work.

The project you will discover in this website has been done by Marta Tena, Laia Delgado and Maria Vrban. It is an adapted version of the telecollaborative project we did with three other students from Illinois in the USA. Every week we gathered together to work on this project and other tasks related to telecollaboration and TEPBLL. However, we had different perspectives and goals on education as they were learning on how to train adults whereas we are studying Primary Education- Nonetheless we managed to carry out a good job and here you have the result, enjoy!
