Hour of Code 2017 Scratch'n It!
Elementary My Dear Watson
Elementary My Dear Watson
Elementary students were introduced to some of the basics of Scratch, a free web based block coding program created at MIT. When I say they were engaged, it's an understatement. They were super excited to hear that this was a program we used at the high school as well! Take a look at some of the creations they made in the hour we had together to celebrate the Hour of Code. In each class we added backgrounds and at minimum one Sprite which they animated with movement, text bubbles, color changes and more.

High school students were also introduced to some of the basics of Scratch as they built animations that included characters and dialog. A Biology student shared the beginnings of their understanding of Mitosis. Some History students shared about historical figures in World War I before beginning their studies on World War II.
