Approaching this incredible launch coaster, guests notice tread marks on the ground leading to the entrance.
The outside of the building has the appearance of being haphazardly put together with mismatched construction materials. A few boxes from an electronics company are actually being used to level part of the structure. (It’s implied, without ever saying as much, that Peter stole all the steel and concrete and used it to construct his own ride building).
Entering the building, guests turn left and begin the first of many switchbacks, which are on an incline and slowly take guests up about 20’. This first room is decorated with hastily hung posters of rock bands and pop stars from the 70s, 80s, and 90s. There is a Dazzler poster as well.
Turning right into the second room, the path levels out and guests are now in a version of Peter’s basement from Days of Future Past. There are multiple arcade cabinets, a pool table, and boxes upon boxes of more electronics including everything from DVD and VHS players, to Walkman cassette players, and even a few TVs. The arcade cabinets are Ms Pac-Man, Vanguard, Centipede, and Donkey Kong, and they actually work and are set to free play mode. Keen eyed guests will spot a familiar set of car keys on the pool table, these being the keys Logan gave Peter in Days of Future Past when he entrusted him to take care of the car.
Guests are filtered out of Peter’s basement and into a pre-show area which holds a maximum of 84 guests. The pre-show room is simple, and has a large monitor in the front.
Peter: Hi! What’s up?! Uh, I’m Peter, and uhh, yeah. Welcome! My mom wanted me to get out of the house more,...and do something “productive” with my time. So, I’m here to give you all the experience of super speed!
Peter dashes out of frame and returns drinking a can of Tab.
Peter: (gulping) Ahhh! Where was I? Yes, super speed! I can actually run at many times the speed of sound! See, watch this.
Peter dashes out of frame again and returns with a Water World Abu Dubai shirt and a snorkel.
Peter: That was refreshing! Anyway, in just a moment you’ll be boarding special roller coaster trains that go fast. Not as fast as me, but we don’t want anybody getting (dramatic pause) whip,...lash. But for your safety, be ready to leave any backpacks or purses with the crew members, they’ll take care of them for you, I promise. They’re good people.
Peter dashes out of frame and returns one final time.
Peter: Oh! They’re ready for you! Head out the doors and have fun! And don’t worry about the tunes, I gotcha covered! (Goofily waves)
Guests are sorted into boarding groups. Quicksilver Super Speed utilizes articulating roller coaster trains capable of seating 28 riders per train, arranged in seven rows of four.
The ride includes a built-in soundtrack, each of the three trains plays an abridged version of a different song:
- Annie Lennox and Eurythmics “Sweet Dreams are Made of This”
- No Doubt “Spiderwebs”
- Rush “Limelight”
Exiting the station, the trains go over a small drop and pass slowly through a 180 turn to the right before being immediately accelerated up to 52mph and ascending a small hill. The trains then take a small drop banked to the left and are then sent through the first of three barrel rolls. Following the first barrel roll is a fast, smooth, long arcing left turn that takes the trains through a figure eight section. Exiting the figure right, the trains pass over the first brake run.
As soon as trains pass the block brakes, they are immediately sent into an inclined launch back up to 45mph. The trains bank to the left for another small drop before straightening out for a moment before another, tighter figure eight section. Exiting the figure eight, the trains go over a small airtime hill and pass through the on ride photo section before taking the second barrel roll, then crest a second airtime hill and take a sweeping right hand turn into the second brake run.
The brake run is followed up by the third and final launch, sending the trains back up to 54mph before they climb a sharp hill which leads into a big helix to the right. Exiting the helix, the trains go over a small drop and pass through the final barrel roll before a brief straightaway and one final big banked turn to the right which leads back to the station.
Quicksilver Super Speed lasts approximately 73 seconds, and is built entirely around speed. It has three inversions, and a biggest drop of 22’.
Exiting the ride there is a small gift shop where guests can purchase an on-ride photo as well as shirts, hats, refreshments, and of course, Quicksilver goggles.
