The exterior building is designed to resemble a Weyland-Yutani Corporation "spaceport", with the queue being similarly themed. Inside the queue there are several set-pieces of sorts, such as carcasses of different alien species framed as "exhibits", though given the company's practices it's implied that they weren't exactly found that way & are just being staged as historic endeavors for good PR, there are also other things like posters with cheesy inspiring messages & miscellaneous tools. When the pre-show is reached the plot of the ride is explained by a representative of the company (an actor on a screen), with guests (who are in story employees of the company) being sent on a mission to chart a well, uncharted alien planet, which then leads to the first part of the ride.
The ride through consists of two parts. The first part of the ride directly follows the pre-show as a large group of guests enter the "ship" (an elaborate elevator with a screen) where the crew's "captain" (a cast member) waits as well as where their "voyage" will begin, the ship will eventually be "attacked"(using screens) by what's inferred to be a xenomorph, then a door will open up leading to the captain leading groups of 4 into "escape pods" (the omnimover-esk ride vehicles), after guests are in the pods the cast member will leave through a secret exit & guests will see a somewhat broken "ship" "approaching" (using a mix of screens & props (as the ride vehicles simply have glass on them)), with the pods moving forward into the ship as the second part of the ride begins.
The second part of the ride consists of guests going through the broken-up ship. The first scene has guests going through the cockpit where they see a dead pilot with a chest wound. The second scene has guests go through the ship's center where they see something familiar dashing around (using projections & screens). The third scene is where the core of the ride begins as they see a dead crewmate in some of the ship's bunks that's grabbed by their head (with it's hands digging into said head) a Xenomorph animatronic (using a runaway railway style effect). The fourth scene has the vehicles speed up as their "chased" (using once again projection effects) by the Xenomorph as it "grabs along the walls". The second to last scene has guests get face to face with the Xenomorph as it "approaches". In the final scene the guests narrowly "escape through the window" (using the explosion effect from Runaway Railway).
Guests are "rescued by an independent ship" where they get out their vehicles & are brought back to the future district as they go in the center of the ship (another elevator) where they exit back into the original building where they can leave.
