The Future District (also known as Future New York) is not meant to be a realistic take on a city of the future, nor is it the cyberpunk-lite stylized city that is common in theme park design. This is a very cartoony, optimistic, and over the top future inspired by Ray Punk, Jetsons, Futurama, and more! All blended with real modern architecture and built on the foundation of the simple brick and glass building seen in New York today to help add a sense of grounding and transition smoothly to the other Districts of the land.
Wrapping through the district are tubes used by citizens to commute through the city. With projections, characters from various 20th Century sci-fi properties can be seen travelling through the them (like the Predator, Deadpool, and the Na'Vi). Large gears and other over the top mechanical doodads line the city streets. Flying Cars suspended on a large spinning mobile give it kinetic energy. This section is the most colorful of the three Districts to help it stand out from the dreamlike, muted visuals of the Classic District and the lived in, realistic visuals of the Modern District.
Closer to the cluster of Marvel attractions, the visuals are less focused on "the future" and more on simple retro sci-fi. Building designs become reminiscent of Jack Kirby artwork. A subtle difference in design sensibilities, but enough to help set it apart a bit.
The Future District transitions from more grounded and industrial on the right half near the path to the Modern District and becomes more fantastical as you go further in. With the Planet Express building's unique design serving a central weenie drawing people from either side into the heart of the district and the Baxter Building/X-Men facades beckoning guests to the small Marvel focused square on the West Side of the Future District.
The Future District restroom is near all the Marvel attractions and shares a show building with the Fantastic Four attraction. It is designed in a timeless art deco style inspired by New York's Marine Building which served as a filming location for the Baxter Building in the Fantastic Four movies.
