kickoff 2023!
The day had come, it was finally time for our first official FRC Kickoff. We met at NPHS and made our way to Somerville High School to join our mentoring team, FRC 102 The Gearheads, for the broadcast. Also in attendance for kickoff was Team 56, R.O.B.B.E., from Bound Brook, Team 75, The Roboraiders, from Hillsborough, and fellow rookie team, Team 9015, Questionable Engineering, from Jersey City.Â

Before the broadcast started, all of the students gathered in the auditorium for a workshop on rapid ideation. The workshop, presented by a 102 mentor and our own Mr. Giardina, used the 2010 FRC game to guide us through how to properly analyze a challenge and brainstorm solutions.

After the workshop and some brainstorming exercises, we all sat down to watch the Kickoff broadcast for our very first competition season

After the broadcast was over and the game manual was released, we all went to the cafeteria for a group lunch. We spilt into groups and each started to pick apart an assigned section of the game manual. When we were all finished, each group presented their findings on their section allowing us all to have a crash course on the 2023 game, Charged Up!
