On March 10th, the Canucks & Bolts attended and competed in their first ever official FIRST competition. This was a three day competition at Mount Olive High School, New Jersey. This was a three day event where 9116 competed in twelve qualification matches, and two semifinal matches with a record of 5-9-0. Out of this event, 9116 left with their first ever experience at a competition, on a playoff alliance, 22 district points, and their first ever award as Rookie all star!
Team 9116 makes their way to Mount Olive on the evening of the 10th. Here we set up our pit and got weighed and inspected for competition. Next we spent the rest of the night going through some practice matches before heading back to North Plainfield.
Team 9116 woke up bright and early for day two of the competition. Here we went through qualification matches including a triple balance on the charge station!
The team left early again for the last day of the competition. Here we finished up qualification matches in rank 30 and waited for alliance selection. We were thrilled to be picked on alliance five along with team 2577 and alliance captain 752. We played two matches on the alliance and were eliminated by alliance eight (Teams: 4361, 1811, and 75) devastatingly when a cube got stuck in the drive train. Regardless, we watched the competition excitedly and were thrilled to end the day carrying the Rookie All Star Award back home with us to North Plainfield.
