About Team 3616

FRC Team Phenomena 3616 was founded in 2011 on the principles of teamwork, communication, and application of knowledge in the technical world. We are a non-profit organization run as an after school robotics club; teaching engineering, programming, designing, media, mechanical, electrical, business, and team building skills. Our members and officers are from multiple schools in the Acadiana Area and housed at W.D. & Mary Baker Smith Career Center. Professionals volunteer to mentor students in the skills required to enter engineering or other related technical fields. We are building leaders who give back to the community while preparing them for the workforce. Our year-long program advocates Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) and Robotics in our local community by participating in numerous community events.

Through competitions at a global level, students learn to strategize and collaborate with others to build a robot of their own design, learn and use sophisticated hardware and software, and develop skills in design, project management, programming, teamwork, and strategic thinking.

FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology).

FIRST is more than robots. The robots are a vehicle for students to learn important life skills. Kids often come in not knowing what to expect- of the program nor of themselves. They leave, even after the first season, with a vision, with confidence, and with a sense that they can create their own future.” -DEAN KAMEN
