I finally returned home on June 17, 2022, completing my 12-day Fulbright Fellowship. From Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ), I flew to Denver International Airport (DEN) at around 9:00 A.M. via Air Canada with some of my co-Fulbrighters. Then from Denver, I flew to Midland International Air and Space Port (MAF) at around 3:41 P. M. via United Airlines, while my colleagues flew to their respective final destinations. I came back home with so much motivation to influence global education. I brought with me countless stories to tell. I was never the same again when I returned, filled with precious experiences and memories that magnified my view of the world and my vigor to make a difference.
We arrived at Denver International Airport (DEN) safely at around 10:34 A.M. We then proceeded to our respective gates for our domestic flights going to our final destinations. From Concourse A, I took a free AGTS train ride to get to Concourse B for my next flight to Midland. I used my meal voucher before my final flight. My airplane reached Midland International Air and Space Port (MAF) at around 6:33 PM. Overall, I had smooth, peaceful flights with no delays.
After finally getting settled and things back to normal, I started reflecting on my whole Fulbright journey that I did not imagine I could get myself qualified for in the very first place. I owe it all to my students who have proactively responded to my global education-integrated lessons and my principal, Mr. Adam Portillo, and former school counselor, Ms. Dawn Westby, who have written outstanding recommendations. My Fulbright journey has been life-changing! I have changed into a more aggressive advocate for global education. Even with my new counseling role in the school, I see the potential in using global education to expose my students to career and life opportunities beyond the boundaries of Odessa. There are just many uses and applications of global education, and I can't wait to see them in action.
