Yet the people,

The people before us -

Theophilus,

Penelope,

Theophilus jr. -

A family forgotten,

Finally uncovered.

To finally get justice?

Anna's Poet's Statement

My poem, “A Family Forgotten”, is about the idea of legacy and how it relates when talking about enslavement. I tried to make my poem short and powerful by using short sentences to get my point across. I think it brings an energy to my poem that I would not be able to bring across with longer sentences.
