The Huayu BEST program, launched by Taiwan's Ministry of Education, is a scholarship program designed to promote Taiwan’s culture as well as Chinese language education. Huayu is one of the terms referring to the Chinese language, and BEST stands for "Bilingual Exchanges of Selected Talent". There are currently 76 universities partnered with Huayu BEST globally and 59 in the U.S collaborating alongside 19 universities in Taiwan. The partnership between The College of New Jersey and Tamkang University belongs to one of them.
Students who join the program through this partnership are provided with a monthly stipend of NTD 25,000 (approx. USD 830) to study Mandarin Chinese at the Chinese Language Center of Tamkang University, Taipei.
