1. Vai Motuꞌanga on the island of Akatokamanava (Mauke) is well known for it's traditional history. It is famous for its 100 Rooms and tunnels which stretches all the way under the reef and out to sea. There is a small space where you are able to crawl through into an underground pool. Wow! that's incredible. The water caves on the island of Nukuroa (Mitiaro) has its own uniqueness that is unseen by the rest of the world. Its beautiful clear crystal water with some that have the turquoise colour which embraces the coolness of a hot steaming day. There is a particular water cave known as Te Vai Mārere which has its own spectacular feeling for curing. Some Water Caves have their own traditional customs such as a chant which is sacred to all who enters. Te Vai Nauri is known as a water cave for donations such as money, perfumes, jewellery or other valuables to throw in for good luck.
2. The blue lagoon holds the fifteen islets that fulfills the beauty of Aitutaki. They are very useful to local people. One Foot Island which is shaped like a foot that attracts tourists and locals as a destination for cruising, enjoyment and weddings. Akaiami known as the port for the sea plane (Teal) back in the 50's and 60's from New Zealand. It also has it's own story. Maina which lies on the sunset side of the island with its little islet next to it which is known by the locals as Maina Iti (small Maina) also known by the tourists as Honeymoon Island. All of these islets are good for a beautiful suntan and picnics.
