Die Filmemacherin Sybille Bauer leiht ihre Stimme ihrer Großmutter Maria. Von Maria Erlebtes wird von ihrer Enkelin rastlos aus der Ich-Perspektive nacherzählt. Schockierende und berührende Momente aus dem langen Leben der Großmutter transformieren sich in das Hier und Jetzt. Bilder von den Orten, an denen sich die vergangenen Ereignisse zugetragen haben, fügen sich zu der Off-Stimme der Enkelin. Durch die Zusammenarbeit von Enkelin und Großmutter wird MARIEDL zu einer intimen Auseinandersetzung mit Erinnerung, Gewalt, und dem Verlauf der Zeit.

Filmmaker Sybille Bauer lends her voice to her grandmother Maria. Events from Maria’s life are restlessly retold by her granddaughter from a first-person perspective. Shocking and moving moments from the grandmother’s long life are transformed into the here and now. Images of the places where these past events took place merge with the granddaughter’s voice-over. Through the collaboration between granddaughter and grandmother, MARIEDL becomes an intimate exploration of memory, violence, and the passage of time.
