The Fighter Class of aerial/space vehicles is slower than the Interceptor Class, But is much better armed and armored. This combination makes it ideal for extended combat with opponents of most classes. That being said, In the game STAR WARS: SPACE BATTLE, Not all Fighter Class ships are built the same as the Republic ARC-170 has a rear gunner, The Rebellion X-Wing fires twice as fast but one one shot at a time verses two, The Confederacy of Independent Systems (CIS) Vulture Droid is the smallest of all of these, And the Imperial TIE Fighter is difficult to hit from the front and behind but easy from the sides. That means that you must be prepared to react quickly to ships such as Interceptors as they are the biggest threat to the Fighter Class.
While any of these Fighter Class vehicles could take down an Interceptor Class ship, It is best suited for combat against the Bomber Class and other Fighter Class. Unlike the Interceptor Class, While this class can do well in groups, It is best to be used in one of two ways. Either in large groups of three to five in formation, Or alone as it’s size can make it difficult to properly engage the opponent when together. This class of ship is best left for head-on combat versus tailing as its size and slower speed can make it difficult to trail the opponent. That being said, With the proper amount of training, It is very possible and likely and even common to shoot down Interceptor Class ships with tricks such as Engine Stalling (More information on Engine Stalling can be found in “Flight and Combat Formations and Procedures”). This ship is ideal for longer offenses during Cruiser Assault or Deathmatch and medium to short range combat.
