Mike Pantone had a short, but very busy and accomplished career.
Pantone began his career in the King Jazz Orchestra, a very influential band in Albany in the 1920s and early 1930s. He then broke off and formed a number of his own bands, playing a wide variety of venues.
Pantone had a music school on lower Madison Avenue in Albany. One of his students was none other than William Kennedy, Albany's own Pulitizer Prize winning author. Kennedy mentions Pantone, and/or uses him as a fictional character in three books - Riding the Yellow Trolly Car; O Albany; and Roscoe.
In his latter years, Pantone taught music at Voorheesville High School.
Below please find a chronology we gathered from the Fulton History website, followed by his obituary published in the Times Union.
