Statistician Recognition Numbers

The Victorian Scoring Committee made the decision to recognise our higher-level statisticians by awarding them a numbered name badge once they receive Level 4 Scoring Accreditation. This honor is like other sporting teams such as the Australian Women’s and Men’s Softball players who are awarded a numbered cap when they initially represent their country.

An extensive search of eligible Victorian statistician was conducted to determine the chronological order in which these numbers should be awarded, however, previous paper methods of record keeping, changes in the accreditation system used by Softball Australia (some people did not transition to Level 4 when it was introduced) showed that there were gaps in our records.

It was decided that ‘a line in the sand’ (which included the criteria that they were current active Level 4 statisticians) was to be drawn if these numbered badges were to ever be awarded.

The initial 20 name badges were distributed recently at the 2024 Scorers Thank You event.
