Pre-game organisation
Pitch maps are published on Thursday nights to the coaches and managers' WhatsApp chat, so you will know where you are playing.
On your team roster, allocate these jobs per week:
oranges (half-time refreshments)
game marshal
Linesperson U12+ ONLY
Game Leader (Referee)
U12+ only- organise your team sheet on Dribl
On the day of home games
Turn up at least 30 mins early
Check pitch allocation on the board (if you haven't checked the chat)
If you're the first team of the day playing there, go to the equipment room and collect benches and corner flags. Goals should be set up, but it's always worth checking (vandalism, etc)
Go to the pitch to meet your team.
If teams are playing on your pitch, use the areas around the pitch for warm-up and team organisation.
Keep an eye out for your opposition as they may benefit from directions, knowing who you are, clarification of the pitch allocation, etc.
Use this time to organise any details with your volunteer game leader (Referee). This can be a parent or an older junior associated with your team. Your team must supply a game leader for home games. (U11 down and possibly U12 up if no referee is appointed)
Ensure your team has a marshal appointed and that they are visible wearing the high-vis vest. This is mandated by Football Victoria.
You might not get pitch access until the kick-off time. That is normal
Play the game.
Enjoy!!
After the game
Always shake hands with the opposition and thank the referee/game leader
If your referee is an older junior, please pay them. This money comes from parents in the team giving money to the manager. Ideally, your game leader would be a volunteer parent who doesn't take payment.
Clear the area, including the bench, if there is a team playing on the pitch after you
Team debrief (off the pitch if there is a team playing after you)
Award the player of the match/encouragement award
If there's no team playing on that pitch after you, pack up the benches and corner flags and return them to the equipment room.
Record your scores
U6, U7 & U8 Saturday teams on Play HQ
data gathering only- there are no ladders
U12+ on dribl
All other teams DO NOT have to record scores
