In what age group will my child be playing?
Juniors are allocated to teams based on the age they will be turning in the current year.
For example, A child born in 2017 who turns 9 in 2026 will play in under 9s.
There will be some exceptions to this for various reasons, including individual player health and wellbeing needs and the need to combine age groups to include all interested players and form teams of appropriate numbers.
Please speak to a junior subcommittee member if you have any special requests regarding team placement. You can also communicate requests on your Club Registration Google Form.
When will my child's training be held?
The volunteer coach sets the training day and time according to their availability. Once teams have been formed, the coach will be in touch to let you know what day and time training will be.
In 2026, most junior teams trained on either Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday with start times ranging between 4 pm to 7 pm.
When are the games?
FFV Junior Boys / Mixed leagues play on Saturdays.
FFV Boys Under 13 and up play on Sundays.
The girls only league plays on Sundays.
Bayside League U6 to U8 play Saturdays.
Who will be the coach and what qualifications do they have?
The coach is usually a parent of a child on the team or another club member.
Our volunteer coaches are the foundation of our junior club. They enrich the experience of the players with their dedication and effort.
All coaches must have a valid Working with Children Check and register that they are coaching with Football Victoria.
Coaches don’t need any prior coaching or soccer experience—just a love for the game and a passion for helping kids enjoy soccer! We believe in the power of learning together, and we’re here to support you every step of the way.
The club will work to support coaches and will provide access to a coaching skills course. Seaford United Soccer Club is supported by the Club Coach Coordinator program run by Football Victoria which works to upskill and train volunteer coaches.
The role of the coach is to organise the team and direct the players in warm-ups and soccer drills during training. On game days they organise positioning and player substitutions and guide the team as a group.
What are parents expected to do?
Parents play a vital role in ensuring a great soccer experience. We ask that parents:
Supervise their children during training and games.
Manage their child’s behaviour—our volunteer coaches and team managers are there to coach, not to discipline.
Inform the coach of any medical or additional needs to ensure an inclusive and safe environment.
Contribute to the team by providing halftime oranges once or twice a season (your team manager will organise a roster).
Assist in setting up and packing away soccer equipment at home games.
For Under 11s and younger, a parent will usually referee home games.
For under 12s and above, parents will need to assist the referee and be a linesperson. See a how-to guide here.
What uniform do players wear?
Players need to wear black sports shorts, black football socks, shin pads, and soccer boots—these items are not included in club fees and should be purchased by families through the order form by the end of January.
Samples are available at the club for sizing.
Parents are responsible for ensuring the uniform is washed and ready for each match as teams will not have spares. The soccer uniform is the property of the purchaser.
Do players have to wear shin pads at training?
Yes! Shin pads are mandatory for both training and games to keep our players safe.
Why do I need to arrive an hour before kick-off?
Arriving early helps ensure a smooth game day experience. Parents are asked to assist with setting up and packing away soccer nets, corner posts, and team benches. With many hands, the work is quick and easy!
Players also need time to warm up, receive instructions, and get ready for the match. For Under 11s and younger, a parent will typically referee home games.
How far do we have to travel for games?
The fixture for the current year is not finalised until all clubs gather their registrations. Typically there are clubs as far down the peninsula as Rosebud and Westernport and some further inland like Chelsea, Dandenong and Rowville. There are also many local clubs such as Frankston Pines, Skye, Langwarrin and Somerville. You can check out the previous year's fixture to understand some of the distances travelled:

What are the Codes of Conduct for parents, spectators and players?

Is there a sibling discount for families with multiple children playing?
Yes, a sibling discount of $30 is given for the second or younger children playing from the same household.
The oldest child's fees are NOT discounted.
Can I go on a payment plan for the annual fees?
Club fees can be put on a payment plan, but a portion of the fees must be paid before the beginning of the season. Please apply for a payment plan on Majestri when registering.
The registration to Football Victoria is paid directly to them via their website and cannot be done on a payment plan.
Do you accept Get Active vouchers?
Yes, you can add these vouchers in Majestri when registering.
