Upon registration all juniors and their guardians are asked to agree to the Code of Conduct below:
I have read the Seaford United Soccer Club Code of Conduct and agree to abide by the rules.
This Code of Conduct applies to all individuals participating in the sport of soccer within Seaford United Soccer Club including players, coaches, parents, officials, and volunteers. By participating in soccer activities, all participants agree to adhere to the standards and principles outlined in this Code.
1. GENERAL PRINCIPLES
• Respect: All participants must show respect for the game, opponents, teammates, coaches, referees, and spectators.
• Fair Play: Play the game with integrity, following the rules and spirit of the game. Cheating and any form of unfair advantage are strictly prohibited.
• Sportsmanship: Win with humility and lose with dignity. Always display positive behaviour, both on and off the field.
• Inclusivity: Ensure that everyone, regardless of their background, gender, ethnicity, or ability, is treated fairly and with respect.
• Safety: Prioritize the health, safety, and well-being of all players, coaches, and officials. This includes respecting equipment, following safety protocols, and promptly reporting any injuries.
2. CODE OF CONDUCT FOR PLAYERS
As a player, I agree to:
• Play the game to the best of my ability, working hard to improve and support my teammates.
• Accept and respect the decisions of the referee and coaching staff, even when I disagree.
• Treat all players, coaches, and officials with respect, both on and off the field.
• Show good sportsmanship at all times, whether my team wins or loses.
• Refrain from using abusive language, bullying, or any behaviour that could hurt others physically or emotionally.
• Keep myself in good physical condition by adhering to the training schedule and staying healthy.
• Follow the club’s dress code and equipment requirements during games and training sessions.
• Maintain a positive attitude and contribute to a supportive and encouraging team environment.
3. CODE OF CONDUCT FOR COACHES
As a coach, I agree to:
• Lead by example, demonstrating respect, sportsmanship, and fairness both on and off the field.
• Create a safe and supportive environment that fosters player development, teamwork, and enjoyment.
• Treat all players fairly, giving them equal opportunities to develop and participate.
• Avoid any form of discrimination, harassment, or inappropriate behaviour towards players, parents, or other coaches.
• Provide clear, constructive feedback and maintain open communication with players and their families.
• Encourage players to maintain a healthy balance between soccer, school, and personal life.
• Uphold the integrity of the game and enforce the rules consistently and fairly.
• Prioritize player safety at all times, including proper warm-up, injury management, and equipment checks.
• Continuously seek professional development and stay current with coaching techniques and tactics.
4. CODE OF CONDUCT FOR PARENTS/GUARDIANS
As a parent or guardian, I agree to:
• Support my child’s participation in soccer by providing encouragement and maintaining a positive attitude.
• Respect the decisions of coaches, officials, and other parents, even when I may disagree.
• Avoid sideline coaching or interrupting the coach’s instructions during games or training.
• Demonstrate sportsmanship by cheering for all players and avoiding negative comments or criticism towards any individual.
• Ensure my child is on time for practices and matches and is properly equipped.
• Promote the values of teamwork, fairness, and respect for others both on and off the field.
• Help ensure that my child and their teammates are playing for the love of the game and not solely for the outcome of the match.
• Alert the coach of any medical conditions or injuries that may affect my child’s participation.
5. EXPECTED BEHAVIOUR
• On the Field: All participants must respect the rules of the game, the authority of the referees, and the rights of other participants.
• Off the Field: All participants should display conduct that reflects positively on themselves, their teammates, their club, and the sport of soccer.
• Social Media: Social media must be used responsibly. Participants are prohibited from posting or sharing content that could be harmful or disrespectful to other individuals or teams.
6. CONSEQUENCES OF MISCONDUCT
Failure to adhere to this Code of Conduct may result in disciplinary action, including but not limited to:
• Verbal or written warnings.
• Temporary suspension from training or matches.
• Permanent suspension or expulsion from the team or organization.
Disciplinary actions will be determined by the club's disciplinary committee or appropriate governing body, taking into account the severity of the violation and the individual's behaviour.
