For the 2026 season, Seaford United Soccer Club continues its commitment to creating a safe and supportive environment for all junior players. As part of this, the club has a Child Safety Officer, a role that helps ensure the wellbeing of children remains at the centre of everything we do.
The Child Safety Officer is Claire Duke – she is contactable on childsafe@seafordunited.com.au
Across community sport, situations can occasionally arise where guidance may be helpful around children’s wellbeing, behaviour, boundaries, or safety. This might include uncertainty about how to handle a concern, questions about appropriate communication with players, or situations where a child or family may need additional support. Coaches, managers and officials care deeply about their players, but with the demands of running a team, it’s not always easy to know the best way to respond in the moment.
The Child Safety Officer role is intended to:
• Be a point of contact if coaches, managers or officials have concerns about a child’s safety or wellbeing
• Provide guidance if you are unsure how to respond to a situation involving a player
• Support the club in maintaining safe, respectful and inclusive environments for children
• Help ensure the club’s practices align with the Victorian Child Safe Standards
This role is designed to support the club community and complement the work you already do with your teams.
Child safety is a shared responsibility at Seaford United, and we thank all coaches, managers and officials for the role they play in creating a safe environment for our players.
Please take a look at our club's Child Safety Policy here.
Claire has extensive experience working with children and young people and is committed to helping ensure Seaford United remains a safe and positive place for all players.
For the 2026 season, the club will be introducing a Player Support Volunteer role within the junior program.
The Junior Player Support Volunteer is Anna Joy – she is contactable on support@seafordunited.com.au
This role is designed to support inclusion, wellbeing, and positive participation for children who may experience emotional, behavioural, or social challenges during training or games. These challenges can arise for many reasons and are not a reflection of a child’s effort or ability.
The Player Support Volunteer will work alongside coaches to:
Help children feel supported, regulated, and included during training and matches
Offer practical strategies to assist with transitions, frustration, and engagement
Collaborate with coaches and parents to promote consistent and supportive approaches
Support a positive team environment where all children can enjoy their soccer
This role is intended to complement the coach’s role, not replace it, and is available as an additional support that families can tap into if helpful.
The role will be filled by a registered occupational therapist with previous coaching experience at the club, volunteering within the junior program during the 2026 season.
Passionate volunteers, building community through soccer!
