Supercurriculars are educational activities that you do outside of the classroom - this could be going beyond what you have learnt in school by listening to podcasts, reading books, undertaking relevant work experience, attending lectures, or entering competitions!
Universities want to see your passion for the course you are applying for. What is it about the subject that makes you tick? Why are you willing to spend at least three years of your life learning about this one specific subject?
Academic matters – whether supercurricular or related to current school studies – should take up a total of 80 per cent of the UCAS personal statement for most universities. In fact, for the most selective institutions, 90 per cent may be recommended. Extracurricular involvement not related to the course the student is applying for should be kept to the remaining 10-20 per cent. Â
