Welcome back to Week 2 of our weekly updates!
This week, we had the opportunity to visit four creative firms, each brimming with innovative ideas and unique perspectives.
ZoCo Design highlights the community that is formed with their employees with a heavy focus on shared spaces. Built in an old Irish pub, they have kept the original bar tops intact and have repurposed them as spaces to gather and celebrate.
The space itself is very minimalist, with a bright pastel turquoise as a unifying color. There are a variety of spots to work in the office: the large main working space, a sound proof "pod", small meeting rooms, soft chairs, and the multiple bar tops. This gives the employees flexibility in how or where they work and allows them to be more productive.
Oranjudio focus on professional audio recording and mixing services in studio. It promotes quality over quantity, investing in relationships with artists.
Our visit to Oranjudio was a journey into a creative and chaotic space that exudes personality. The space, though messy and cluttered, felt intimate and cozy, especially in the recording studios. A highlight was their on-site outdoor coffee trailer, a personal touch that underscored the close-knit community. The environment fostered open arguments and had no hierarchy, creating a dynamic and engaging space.
Idea Foundry is a large maker space with over 400 members. Because of this large client base, they have needed to design their space to accommodate a wide range of people.
A lot of the space was a blank slate for the members to put their personal spin on. We saw small gallery spaces set up around the building containing everything from paintings to full size prototypes of motorcycles. Additionally, companies can rent out offices long-term and customize them as they wish. This freedom of customization allows the members to change the space, not the other way around.
Priority Designs is a full-service product development consultancy with research, strategy, design, engineering, prototyping, and soft goods capabilities all under one roof.
They skillfully utilize cost-effective options like bamboo and source over-stock furniture, achieving a high-quality aesthetic while saving on costs.
