Coordinating Gifts From the Class

Class gifts to the teacher and assistants are a wonderful way to thank them for their dedication and hard work. Please celebrate teacher, assistant, and adopted teacher birthdays with a request to the students to create something unique and thoughtful such as cards, poems, or a poster. Teacher Appreciation Day can be celebrated in a similar manner. Please use your creativity to celebrate these special days.

The Gift Fund Account

Each Christmas the PTO gives teachers a generous gift on behalf of the student body. Room Parents organize and plan the class' gifts to the teacher, adopted teacher, and assistant for the Christmas and End of Year celebrations. Please emphasize in your letter home to parents that contributing to the class' Gift Fund for teachers is optional. Some parents provide gifts on their own or are financially unable to contribute. Please plan ahead. Avoid spending class activity money to cover gift card fees. Cash is never to be given as a gift.

Budgeting for Class Gifts

There are two approaches for budgeting for the Gift Fund: 1) Set a budget amount/teacher per event, add up the total and divide by the number of students in the class; or 2) Set an amount/student per event (e.g. $5 birthday + $5 Christmas + $5 Teacher Appreciation + $5 Year End Gift = $20/student).

Teacher Favorites

In an effort to help Room Parents generate ideas for pampering their teachers, each teacher and adopted staff member has been asked to fill out a Teacher Favorites form. Contact your teachers to request a copy of their form. New teachers, to create your Teacher Favorites form, use the two-page fillable .PDF located below.
