Room Parent Contact List

Room Parent Contact List 2022-23

TIP: It may be helpful for you to contact last year's class' Room Parent.

Connect1

In 2022-23, Saint Timothy Catholic School transitioned to the Connect1 online system. All volunteer opportunities, event or food sign ups, prayer requests, student directory, etc. will be posted in Connect1. Room Parents will be given "Creator" status in Connect1 to create their own events and sign-ups. For questions regarding Connect1, contact Kristin Lynch, the Volunteer Coordinator.

Encourage your class' parents to check their Connect1 account for the class signups and to volunteer.

Communication

The school creates class email groups. You will be granted access to email your class.

No Peanuts Allowed

Recent years have seen an increase in the number of food allergies among students. Because of a plethora of students with severe food allergies, any snacks or treats given at a class event must be 100% nut free.  Avoid other food allergies as necessary. Please consult with your teacher.

Publish Food Ingredients

For the safety of the students, we ask that all party snacks and food ingredients be sent to the parents prior to the event for their review. For packaged food, we recommend taking a picture of the package's ingredients list and emailing the image to the class' parents.

The Room Parent Tea

A Crucial Planning Meeting

Early in September each school year, the Room Parents meet with their grade level's teachers to plan for the coming school year's class activities. The decisions made during this meeting form the basis for the Class Activity Fee budget that the Room Parents must develop. It is crucial that all Room Parents and teachers for a grade level be present, so that each grade level can come to a mutual understanding of each other's expectations. (e.g. Some teachers prefer to play a larger role in planning class activities and events and the Room Parent functions more like an assistant. Other teachers prefer for the Room Parents to take on the responsibility of planning the activities and events while keeping the teacher updated on all planning.)

Room Reservations

Once the tea is over, the Room Parent, or just a representative, should lock in dates for any rooms needing to be reserved. Please contact Mrs. Michelle Kabadi (email: mkabadi@sainttimothyschool.org) to make a reservation.

Room Parent Planning Worksheet

A two-page worksheet tool designed to assist teachers and Room Parents with planning the year's activities. Recommend that first time Room Parents (and new teachers) utilize this tool during their planning meeting.
