Fathauer Walkabouts draw inspiration from mathematical artist Robert Fathauer’s 2019 Bridges Math and Art Conference paper, Walkable Curves and Knots. Walkables feature stepped over-crossings and/or under-crossings, offering an architectural interpretation of geometric and topological structures. This collection expands Dr. Fathauer’s work to include braids, weaves, and links—indeed, every Stewart alternating knot, link, braid, and weave has a walkable counterpart.
