Window 27

At the front south entrance of our church, the window by the stairs into the place of worship pictures this comforting message from the well known Psalm 23: “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.”

To leave the house of God with its green pastures and quiet waters and to return to daily life in this world is like again entering a valley overcast by the shadow of death. The window shows such a person walking into that valley.  The Good Shepherd’s staff and support, however, do not remain in the house of worship.  The Lord accompanies us into our daily life.  He commands his angels to guard us in all our ways.
