Running has always been a fan favorite of the health conscious. More hardcore enthusiasts go for track and field training or marathons, while others enjoy leisure running on a daily basis. However, there has been an upward trend in the half-marathon scene these past years. Half-marathons all around the globe have recorded an increasing number of participants. Because of this, we’ve found it fitting to feature a few tips on preparing for that first half-marathon.
Enjoy the experience
First-timers often make the mistake of overthinking a half-marathon when training and actually running the race. Keep the plan simple, stay hydrated, and feel yourself throughout the race. It’s the first time, which means there’s room for improvement. Take it in. Enjoy the experience.
Improve range of motion
When we say improve range of motion, we’re referring to the muscles of the body, especially the legs. This will allow people to adjust their running speeds when they need to. Go jogging. Do yoga. Cross-train.
Eat right
Eating the right food is a must in training for competition. Before the race itself, carbo-loading is important to give one sufficient energy. Though the race may not be as long as a marathon, it’s still enough to tire out someone on their first try. Be sure you don’t gas out.
