EVERYONE TRIED TO WARN VICTOR !!!
"Ah! Cornelius Agrippa! My dear Victor, do not waste your time upon this; it is trash." -Alphonse Frankenstein, p. 22
"A man would make a very sorry chemist, if he attended to that department of human knowledge alone. If your wish is to become really a man of science, and not merely a petty experimentalist, I should advise you to apply to every branch of natural philosophy, including mathematics." - M. Waldman, p. 29
"In my education my father had taken the greatest precautions that my mind should be impressed with supernatural horrors." - Victor Frankenstein, p. 31
In Shelley's book, Victor was willing to admit his obsession with death and the supernatural was unhealthy and a violation of ethics.
"I then thought that my father would be unjust if he ascribed my neglect to vice, or faultiness on my part; but I am now convinced that he was justified in conceiving that I should not be altogether free from blame. A human being is perfection ought to always to preserve a calm and peaceful mind, and never to allow passion or a transitory desire to disturb his tranquility. I do not think that the pursuit of knowledge is an exception to this rule." -Victor Frankenstein, p. 34
In the FILM, Victor didn't seem to like to be told "no". He was belligerent when his instructors at Ingolstadt questioned his sense of ethics, arguing with them over his supernatural fantasies that would violate humanity. He was so dead set on experimenting and creating resurrection by any means, and in both works his educators tried to guide him away from the darkness he was falling into.
