ABOUT
Dr. Virender S Sangwan has been a member of the Dr. Shroff's Charity Eye Hospital team since 2018. He specializes in cornea, stem cells, uveitis, and cataract surgery. Dr. Sangwan attended L V Prasad Eye Institute in Hyderabad, Harvard Medical School in Boston, and Rohtak Medical College. He completed fellowships at LVPEI in Cornea and Anterior Segment and Harvard Medical School in Ocular Immunology and Uveitis. With an experience sprawling over 27 years, Dr Sangwan was associated with L V Prasad Eye Institute, and Orbis International as its Medical Director. He has received many awards, some of which are the Sun Pharma Clinical Research Award, the AAO Senior Achievement Award, the International Uveitis Leadership Award, the National Technology Award, and the Dr. Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Award. Dr. Sangwan has given more than 500 presentations at national and international levels.
Dr Sangwan is an established leader in Limbal Stem Cell research, Ocular Surface and Uveitis. He has contributed more than 240 peer reviewed publications and 15 book chapters. He is founder Secretary and current Vice President of Asia Cornea Society, founder Secretary and past President of Uveitis Society of India. His interests include engineering the eye and fitness, he is a marathon runner and a social worker. Currently he is working on a new technology called Liquid Cornea, in colaboration with various institute and companies.
