My name is Stella Ciza, I was originally born in Tanzania and raised in Burundi, East Africa. I arrived in Australiia as a refugee at the age of 10 in 2008. I’m the eldest of 8 children and the first in the family to ever complete both primary school, high school and soon University.
I would describe myself as a respectful and understanding person with the compassion for helping others and giving back to the community. In Africa and Australia, I grew up in positive and welcoming communities which enabled me to grow, learn about faith, dedication and compassion. These traits influenced my childhood and have led me to where I am today. During high school I became interested in health and the study of the human body. I was later encouraged and inspired by the stories my father shared with me about life and healthcare in Africa. I am currently attending my final placement for my Bachelor's Degree in Nursing at the Sutherland Hospital. Throughout my nursing journey and experiences I have developed new skills, enhanced my knowledge and understanding. I have reached my planned clinical placement goals and have attained the appropriate skills required in nursing to provide the best possible care to patients for optimal health and wellbeing.
I will graduate with a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing late February 2020 and will take on the position of graduate registered nurse with Justice Health and Forensic Mental Health. Nursing is a profession with so many pathways and opportunities, I am very excited to see where nursing leads me.
