ALERTS
Romulan vessels use a system of alerts to indicate different levels of operational status and emergency conditions. The most well-known are Red Alert and Yellow Alert, but there are several others as well. Each alert level is designed to prepare the crew for specific situations, ensuring that they respond quickly and efficiently.
The most serious alert level.
Used when the ship is in immediate danger or entering combat.
All crew members report to battle stations.
Shields are raised, weapons are brought online, and non-essential systems may be shut down.
Red lighting and klaxons activate throughout the ship.
A state of heightened readiness.
Used when a potential threat is detected but is not an immediate danger.
Shields are often raised, and weapons are placed on standby.
The crew is put on alert, but regular ship functions continue.
Can also be used in hazardous navigational conditions.
Used only on ships with planetary landing capabilities (like the Intrepid-class, e.g., USS Voyager).
Indicates preparation for landing or atmospheric entry.
Non-essential systems may be powered down to allocate energy to landing operations.
Crew prepares for a controlled descent.
Sometimes called "Stealth Mode", though not officially an alert level.
The ship powers down all non-essential systems, including external lights and emissions.
Used for covert operations, avoiding detection, or ambush situations.
Often used by intelligence vessels and Section 31 operations.
Less commonly mentioned in canon, but referenced in some Star Trek media.
Used when there is a security breach or internal threat (e.g., intruders, mutiny, sabotage).
Security personnel are placed on alert, and internal force fields may be activated.
Exclusive to USS Discovery (23rd century) and later Starfleet ships with experimental technology.
Indicates that the ship is preparing for spore drive jumps or using other experimental propulsion.
Only seen in Star Trek: Discovery.
Used when the ship encounters hazardous radiation levels or environmental dangers.
Certain sections of the ship may be evacuated or sealed off.
Usually displayed with flashing orange lights.
Issued in cases of medical emergencies, such as a shipwide illness, contamination, or biohazard threat.
The Chief Medical Officer or Emergency Medical Hologram (EMH) may take command of the ship if necessary.
1.9. Green Alert - NON CANNON ALERT (SES S'TASK ONLY)
The Galae uses it as a silent red alert.
Instead of sirens screaming across the ship, the interior lights changed to green so the crew knows they might need to engage into battle, if needed, in the blink of an eye.
It is like smiling at your enemy but getting ready to bite fast, if needed.
Example of actions required during a GREEN ALERT.
Fighter Squadron: The Wing Pilots need to be inside their fighters, waiting for imediate deployment if needed.
Legion (Marines): Legionnaires must be ready, in full gear in the transporter room. At least one fifth of companies need to be spread across the transporters platforms in position in case they are needed.
It was used for the first time in game on January 2025.

2. WHISTLES
Romulans uses whistles as part of its Galae (Naval) tradition, similar to those used in maritime navies. These whistles serve as formal announcements for crew attention.
It is used when a senior officer, such as a Captain or Admiral, boards the bridge or another key area.
A short, rising and falling tone played over the ship's intercom.
It means that the crew should come to attention.
Sometimes followed by a spoken announcement, such as:
"Attention. Captain on the bridge."
A sharp, urgent whistle signal that indicates a combat situation or immediate battle readiness.
Typically accompanies a Red Alert or an unexpected attack.
Sometimes followed by a spoken announcement, such as:
"All hands to battle stations!"
"Prepare for combat!"
Similar to real-world naval "General Quarters" calls.
2.3. DARK Whistle - NON CANNON ALERT (SES S'TASK ONLY)
A dark whistle is a aural signal transmitted the Romulan crew commbadges that are not on board.
It is a silent 'Call to Arms' warning.
It would be like saying "The ship is under attack. Return now."
It was used for the first time in game on March 2025.

Used to gather the crew for an important announcement or briefing.
May be used before mission briefings, ship-wide updates, or emergency drills.
Shorter and less urgent than a Call to Arms whistle.
A distinct, prolonged tone followed by an evacuation announcement.
Used in extreme emergencies when the ship is about to be destroyed or severely compromised.
Often accompanied by klaxons and flashing lights.
Spoken orders usually follow, such as:
"All hands, abandon ship!"
Played when a high-ranking official, ambassador, or special guest arrives or departs the ship.
Can be a short, formal whistle to acknowledge their presence.
Used at diplomatic functions.
A somber, descending whistle tone used for honoring fallen crew members.
Sometimes played before a shipboard funeral or burial in space.
Seen in military funerals (both real-world and in Starfleet tradition).
