Bring a creative drama workshop to your library this summer! Here are just a few titles that fit perfectly with the “Libraries Rock” theme! Have a favorite music themed book that’s not on the list? Give us the title and we will design a creative drama workshop around it! Or, looking to entertain a larger crowd? How about our Sing a Story program? This musical storytime is a perfect way to introduce creative dramatics to a crowd of multiple ages. Click here for more information about Sing a Story!
Abiyoyo by Pete Seeger (recommended for ages 5 - 9)
A boy with his ukulele is the hero of this story. We will have fun dancing like monsters as we act out this story.
Anansi and the Moss Covered “ROCK” by Eric Kimmel (recommended for ages 5 - 12)
Ok, so this one is a bit of a stretch. There's no actual music in this one...but it is a clever funny tale about an actual ROCK!
Boom Baby Boom Boom by Margaret Mahy (recommended for ages 0 - 7)
As mom bangs on her drums, baby eats her lunch...or does she? We will make drums and act like the various farm animals in this funny story.
I Ain’t Gonna Paint No More by Karen Beaumont (recommended for ages 3 - 8)
We will "paint" the floor, the ceiling, the walls, the curtains, the door, and then use real body paint to paint ourselves as we act out this silly song!
If You’re Happy and You Know It by David A. Carter (recommended for ages 0 - 6)
We will act out all different emotions as we sing this classic song.
Musicians of the Sun by Gerald McDermott (recommended for ages 6 - 10)
We will add color back into the world as we pretend to be the four musicians of the sun.
Stone Soup by Marcia Brown (recommended for ages 5 - 10)
We will act like soldiers and villagers to act out this classic tale about sharing. The best part is the musical dance party at the end!
The Farmer in the Dell illustrated by John O'Brein (recommended for ages 0 - 7)
This classic song is a perfect story for dramatizing. We will even act as the stubborn cheese!
The Leopard’s Drum by Jessica Souhami (recommended for ages 5 - 9)
Leopard won't let any of the other animals try his magnificent drum. We will act as all the jungle animals to see if any of them are clever enough to outwit the leopard.
There was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly illustrated by Pam Adams (recommended for ages 0 - 8)
We will act out this favorite story song using multiple methods!
We’re Going on a Bear Hunt by Michael Rosen (recommended for ages 0 - 7)
We will make binoculars and go on our own bear hunt as we act out this popular story song.
