Accommodation 

Although there are not many hotels right next to the venue, there are plenty of hotels in areas with very convenient access to the University of Tokyo (Hongo Campus).

We will reserve a small number of hotel rooms for students. We kindly ask all other participants to make their own hotel arrangements.

Below you will find a rough guide to hotel prices in Tokyo and some recommended areas in which to stay. 

Tokyo Hotel Rates (Approximate)

Hotel prices in Tokyo vary depending on the season and availability, but as a rough guide, typical nightly rates are: 

• Budget hotels: around EUR 45–65 per night

• Mid-range hotels: around EUR 55–85 per night

• Full-service hotels: around EUR 80–140 per night

In Tokyo, hotel rooms are usually compact, but even budget hotels are typically clean, safe, and comfortable. 

Hotel Rooms for Students (Limited Availability)

We are booking a limited number of hotel rooms in the Ochanomizu area for students.

More details about the hotel and the application procedure will be announced on this page in due course. 

Recommended Areas

The Hongo campus of the University of Tokyo is located in one of Tokyo’s historic central districts. If you are wondering where to stay, the following areas are especially convenient:

• Ochanomizu

• Suidobashi

• Ueno / Okachimachi

From these areas, you can walk to the campus.

Other areas with very easy and convenient metro access include:

• Iidabashi

• Ikebukuro

• Shinjuku

Below is a rough guide to travel times to the venue.

Ochanomizu Area

• • About 20 minutes’ walk to the venue

  • By metro: about 2 minutes from Ochanomizu Station (Spot 3) to Hongo-sanchome Station (Spot 1) via the Tokyo Metro Marunouchi Line

Ueno / Okachimachi Area

• • • About 25 minutes’ walk to the venue

Suidobashi Area

• • About 30 minutes’ walk to the venue

  • By metro: about 10 minutes from Suidobashi Station (Spot 4) to Hongo-sanchome Station (Spot 1) via the Toei Mita Line and Toei Oedo Line (transfer inside the ticket gates at Kasuga Station)

Iidabashi Area

• • About 10 minutes from Iidabashi Station (Spot 5) to Hongo-sanchome Station (Spot 1) via the Toei Oedo Line

  • About 5 minutes from Iidabashi Station (Spot 5) to Todai-Mae Station (Spot 2) via the Tokyo Metro Namboku Line

Ikebukuro Area

• • About 10 minutes from Ikebukuro Station (Spot 6) to Hongo-sanchome Station (Spot 1) via the Tokyo Metro Marunouchi Line

Shinjuku Area

• • • About 20 minutes from Tocho-Mae Station (Spot 7) or Nishi-shinjuku Station (Spot 8) to Hongo-sanchome Station (Spot 1) via the Toei Oedo Line
