Q: What is your job description and title?
A: I am multimedia journalist, meaning that it is my job to ensure the coherence of news stories, pivotal, and even journalists who get on-going revelation and decide to air their ideas.
Q: How do you use what you learned in your major in performing your job?
A: Majoring in journalism has been a direct pipeline to my career. It has taught me the discipline of thorough analysis through multiple lenses which has carried over into every job that I've had.
Q: Do you use technology such as computers, PDAs, cell phones, etc. in your day-to-day work? If so, what applications/programs do you use? How do computers make your job easier? If not, do you see a way that technology could be useful? Are there any tasks that you perform that you would be interested in automating or giving to a computer to do?
A: Of course. Computers store the majority of all of my projects and aid me in the editing and revision process. In addition, computer software helps me to push every product out into the world for viewers and listeners to hear and see. Social media specifically, propels the exploitation of my work which makes reaching audiences seamless. Each time we air, there are a series of tedious preparations that have to be included within my study however this is what makes my work so rich. Giving these duties to a computer would be easier yet, I would not trade the opportunity to explore the world by doing so.
Q: What do you think the industry will be like for me in four years? Will technology play a
larger role than it does today? In what way?
A: I do believe that the mass media industry will adjust to the technological advancements that society will have to bring, making my job more digitized. Holographic tools are in the works especially for weather scopes so that is going to be a groundbreaking discovery. This will surely increase the role of technology by making the industry more computer reliant instead of people reliant.
