SPS Trivia Night is back for its third year! Think you know which physicist almost became a priest? Or which experiment changed the course of modern physics? Whether you’re in it for the bragging rights, the weird facts, or just the free food—come hang out and test your knowledge with us. Questions will range from real physics to the strange and surprising lives of physicists. It’s low-stakes, good vibes, and a great way to unwind after midterms. PGC and SPS are super excited to announce our third annual Physics Field Day! The event will be held at Warren field on Friday, May 9th from 2-5pm. We will be providing food and hosting various games and activities including relay races, tug-of-war, face painting, and much more! This will be open to everyone in physics and astro, from undergraduates, graduate students, faculty members, and staff; you can invite friends affiliated with our departments too! If you plan to attend, you MUST REGISTER for the event through this Google form by Wednesday May 7 at the latest. It has a participation waiver and you cannot play games or eat without it. Also, if you’d like to volunteer to help us set up, please fill out this volunteer form! Information on where to meet/what you’re doing will be sent to volunteers on May 7.

Dr. Johanna Teske is a scientist at the Carnegie Earth and Planets Laboratory, where she explores the diversity of exoplanet compositions and their origins using spectroscopy, radial velocity measurements, and atmospheric studies with tools like JWST. Mark your calendars! SPS will be having our first General Body Meeting (GBM) of the spring quarter on Friday, April 25 from 5-7pm. The GBM will be held at the Student Success Center in Mayer Hall (first floor in front of the grass field. Pizza will be provided. We will be introducing the new board, and this will be a great chance to learn about SPS, how to get involved, and the many opportunities we provide in terms of research and community.
