This is regarded as the capital of the Hollow, located roughly in the center of the continent. A sprawling, complex city, Hollow’ven features a somewhat Gothic style with a jumble of aesthetics and cultures from other regions and worlds mixed in here and there. At its heart is a castle that houses the ruling family, including the crown prince and princess. It’s easy for outsiders to get lost among Hollow’ven’s twisting alleyways, lit by softly glowing streetlights and torches.
To the southwest of Hollow’ven lies the region of Faeveil, named after its protector. A region characterized by its lush plants, towering trees, winding streams, and curious fauna, Faeveil is a verdant paradise of diverse life. It also is rumored to contain many mysteries shrouded amongst the leaves in the darkest parts of the forest where light struggles to break through the dense foliage. In the depths of the forest resides a giant, ancient tree with a great lake formed within its roots and a village settled high in the treetops among wispy spirits. The region spends most of the year in a perpetual spring.
To the southeast of Hollow’ven lies the region of Ardjinn, named after its protector. A sprawling land of seemingly endless deserts and sparse plains. Far into the desert is a lush oasis and an expansive stone city that surrounds it, sheltering its inhabitants from the intense heat and rolling sandstorms. There also is a nomadic clan that travels across the arid plains, following where resources are most bountiful, but they must chart their course carefully to avoid the region’s rumbling, active volcanoes. Thankfully it is fairly easy to tell when you’ve crossed into range of the molten earth these volcanoes spew, though it is unfortunate some of the most beautiful areas of the desert are also the most dangerous. Glass formed from the intense heat of the lava splashing upon the sand serves as a warning, glittering in the sunlight and taking many unique shapes in an oddly wide range of colors. Despite the danger there are Spectrels still willing to risk their lives to retrieve a piece of glass formed “by Ardjinn himself”. The region spends much of the year in the heat of summer.
To the northeast of Hollow’ven lies the region of Yūrein, named after its protector. A land of towering mountains and deep valleys filled with colorful deciduous woodland. Small villages and ancient shrines where spirits gather are scattered across the landscape, contrasted by a futuristic city along the coast where more modern Spectrels thrive. In many towns and villages windchimes are strung up outside homes and shops, their soft melodies carried by a gentle breeze. In places where the wind is stronger some structures consisting of multiple hollow pipes cut to different lengths have been crafted, allowing for a chorus of whistles and low hums to be heard. When the wind has a song to sing, the residents of Yūrein want to listen. The region spends most of the year in a near constant state of autumn amongst a sea of falling leaves.
To the northwest of Hollow’ven lies the region of Wraithyr, named after its protector. This perilous region contains a series of unforgiving snowy peaks, vast tundra plains, and immense glaciers. A massive stronghold is nestled high in the mountains, the Spectrels who call this place home are hardy and resilient, having to endure the bitter frost and harsh conditions for most of their lives. Also within this region is an icy port town alongside the ocean, frequented by pirates who aren’t afraid to test their luck in the nearby wisps of the Miasma. Though the cold is merciless, many of the Spectrels that reside within Wraithyr are fairly welcoming, willing to share the warmth of their fires with anyone unfortunate enough to be caught out in the storms. These Spectrels know that the only way to survive the long nights and creeping chill is to watch out for one another. For a majority of the year, Wraithyr is in the icy grip of winter.
