With the tour group, we drove from Madrid down to Granada. What a beautiful place! The views of the countryside in Southern Spain are unbeatable (bottom left photo). Our tour guide, Rich, did a wonderful job of leading orientation walks in each new place, which led to many great views of the Alhambra from the first moment we entered the city (top left photo). We explored the Alhambra the next day, finding it both gorgeous and enchanting in its detail and charm (top and bottom right photos).
For just a few moments each day, a unique colorful stained glass window catches the sun, casting a colorful overlay on the detailed walls of this part of the Alhambra.
When we visited the Alhambra, it lived up to every expectation. The famous lion fountain (bottom left photo) was impressive and perfectly framed by the columns around the courtyard. Every room was covered in detail, with meaning and astonishing beauty (bottom right photo). Our tour guide, Rich, organized a group dinner with a view on our first night in Granada! It was a lovely meal where we both got to know the other members of the tour group. We made great connections and had a wonderful dinner with the Alhambra at sunset in the background (top left and right photos).
After our lovely dinner, we walked through the city and enjoyed the vibrant colors and the lit up Alhambra.
The city of Granada is visible through the many windows in the Alhambra. This naturally framed photo overlooks part of the garden and the old city up on the hill. Walking through the Alhambra was a fantastic day activity, with a good mix of excitement and rest at windows like these where we could take a moment to admire the scenary.
