We started our adventure in Barcelona, exploring the city sites and enjoying our time together as we adjusted to the time zone difference. We found a couple of favorite food venues along La Rambla and spent evenings strolling down to the waterfront and looking through local markets. We went to the famous Sagrada Familia, where we enjoyed the gardens before going inside (top left photo). One of our favorite places to visit was the Palace of Catalan Music (top right and bottom left photos). The whole venue was inspired by the modernista architecture and art that defines most of the famous sites of Barcelona. The tour guides there made the experience all the better! And of course, in between big adventures, we found plenty of coffee and snacks to make it through the 'siesta' (bottom right photo).
Touring the tower and main church was perfect with the Rick Steves Audio Europe app. We also used the Sagrada Familia app, and we found that a pair of headphones and our downloaded guides were exactly what we needed to enjoy the experience! Seen here is Nancy walking down the spiral staircase in the Passion tower.Â

The view of the city from the top of the Sagrada Familia was unbeatable! Barcelona is such a beautiful city with incredible architecture and city planning - much of which we learned about during out self guided Rick Steves walking tours!
When we were exploring La Rambla, we found a fun little Irish pub (far from traditional, but with good vibes!) where we watched a football game and socialized with other tourists. It was a fun experience, even if it was not entirely authentic.
