Create Neighborhood Xcel Tree Plan

Xcel has determined that they will use total removal of all vegetation, including trees, within 20-foot swath of all transmission lines in SoGo as their approach to mitigating wildfire risks. We advocate for a more thoughtful, effective approach to wildfire mitigation. 

Xcel has currently agreed to have their contractors pause work.

Key issues will include:

• Reworking area fire danger maps to specifically target only areas with extremely high risk, rather than just targeting a broad swath for extreme mitigation measures.

• Communicating with our neighborhood clearly, using a written plan established in advance, for any trimming

• Having accountable, responsible and communicative contractors doing the work with Xcel agreeing to take complete responsibility for the work they hire them to do
