The Go/No Go Task is a great method for olafactory research because it is an operant discrimination task. This model rewards the rodent for doing something instead of the other. It measures response inhibition because it is trained to only respond once something has happened. They do not get punished, except in the study when they remove the reward if the incorrect odor was chosen. The reason they want to use this model is because it makes response selection easier which results in cleaner data. However, in this study, the rat's rewards were food and light. I have a slight issue with rewarding an animal with light it seems like something all lab animals should have access to. However, as far as validity, I think it is pretty good, I just have a couple questions on how it is not training the rat.
