Topolodays

days to topologize and we won't apologize

The Motivation

In August 2021, my advisor proposed I start and organize a topology student seminar so that I could practice organizing, preparing, and delivering more advanced mathematical material.  An added bonus was I got to prepare for my advanced topics oral exam.

In December 2022, my academic sibling, Daniel Tolosa, and I have decided to share the responsibility of co-organizing the seminar. Since he is graduating in 2024, we hav recuited another co-organizer, Fabio Capovilla-Searle.

The Community Guidelines:

The primary mission of the Topolodays (Topology Student Seminar) is to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all students who are interested in topology. The organizers are committed to creating a professional and welcoming environment that benefits from the diversity of experiences of all participants. We maintain the expectation that participants in the seminar be respectful of one another despite at the role may play as a listener or presenter. Moreover, we aim to offer the same respect, opportunity and value to the contributions of every participant regardless of gender, gender identity or expression, race, color, national or ethnic origin, religion or religious belief, age, marital status, sexual orientation, disabilities, or veteran status. We ask you to contribute to this positive environment, and to use extra care to ensure that your words and actions communicate respect for others. Discriminatory or harassing behavior undermines the mission of the seminar and therefore will not be tolerated. The organizers will make every effort to maintain an environment that is free of harassment, even though we do not control the behavior of third parties. If any participant feels uncomfortable with the way they are being treated or has concerns, please contact us via email.
