Dr. Derrick is a Research Professor in Social, Personality, and Health Psychology at the University of Houston and an Associate Professor in the Department of Community Health and Health Behavior at the University at Buffalo School of Public Health and Health Professions in Buffalo, NY. Her primary research areas include (1) interdependence, the need to belong, and symbolic social bonds; (2) the influence of close relationships on self-regulation and substance use; (3) the influence of substance use on close relationship functioning and intimate partner aggression; and (4) ambulatory assessment (e.g., daily diary and EMA) research methods.
